ADD/ADHD Treatment

Are you unable to focus, organize or prioritize?

Maybe you chronically underperform, or perhaps you get your work done, but only by using twice the energy of the people around you to stay on task. Your partner may be angry and frustrated with you, and blame you for not caring or doing your share. Signs of a need for  ADD/ADHD treatment include:

  • Difficulty staying on task, especially if the task is boring or repetitive
  • Constantly seeking new and exciting activities, the only ones that can hold your interest
  • Problems following directions and a strong desire to do it your way, even if it does not make sense to anyone else
  • A need to please everyone up front, knowing you will probably disappoint them later

Embracing the Unique Potential of ADD/ADHD Thinkers

It may seem impossible to believe after a lifetime on this treadmill, but there are better ways to move through the world. ADD/ADHD are not disabilities as much as they are a different way of thinking, one that needs to be carefully aligned with the way most workplaces and families operate. Many people with attention issues are capable of being highly successful if they can find the strengths in their approach and mitigate the weaknesses. ADD/ADHD treatment can help you:

  • Bring calm focus to bear when needed
  • Identify elements of your upbringing and environment that exacerbate attention problems (we all struggle with this since the internet showed up on our phones…)
  • Learn to work with and internally support the parts of yourself that crave novelty and grow dejected when confined
  • Work with others to escape cycles of blame and instead combine your complimentary strengths

Integrated Therapy Approach

My approach to ADD/ADHD treatment draws from Mindfulness based techniques and Internal Family Systems, evidence-based approaches with broad applicability in your life. I also use Gottman and Emotionally Focused Therapy to work with and improve the tensions you may have in relationships.
